Tasting Notes: Stone fruits, Mineral, Dark wild berries, Honey
Weingut Willi Schaefer is a small family winery that dates back to the year 1121. Willi Schaefer is absolutely, without question, one of the greatest wine producers in Europe. Christoph and Andrea Schaefer manage this 4.2 hectare estate in the sleepy village of Graach, directly on the Mosel. The village is unique; an underground spring helps the wines of Graach maintain their crisp character, even in warm vintages. Christoph and Andrea have no interest in producing more wine, only in producing the best wines they possibly can.
Round, lush and elegant, with fine piquancy and precise but delicate acidity, terrific density, complex structure and exciting balance. The lush palate features pear, cassis, white flowers, peach, wet stone, blackberry, apple, lemon and fine subtle smoky elements and dark” slate notes. Fanatical cling on the finish. Certainly a match for spicy Thai or Indian food.
